Bathroom vanity installation in Miami

The vanity is the piece of furniture you use most in the bathroom and the one humidity attacks first. Choosing the right construction matters as much as the style.

Floating or furniture-style

Floating (wall-mounted)

Shows the floor underneath, which makes small rooms feel wider and makes mopping easier. Needs blocking in the wall and plumbing that fits inside the cabinet depth. Popular in condos and small bathrooms.

Floor-standing

More storage, more traditional look, and more tolerant of uneven walls. Legs or a recessed toe kick help air circulate so the base doesn't sit in moisture.

Materials that last in a humid room

  • Cabinet box

Plywood or marine-grade options over particleboard or low-grade MDF, which swell when edges get wet.

  • Finish

Fully sealed edges and backs, not just the visible faces. Thermofoil can peel in hot, steamy rooms.

  • Countertop

Quartz is low-maintenance; porcelain slab resists heat and staining; marble is beautiful but etches with acids.

  • Sinks

Undermount for easy wiping; vessel for a statement; integrated for a top with no joint at the bowl.

  • Hardware

Solid brass or stainless near the coast. Plated zinc pulls can pit in salt air.

Beyond the cabinet

A new vanity is the natural moment to fix what's around it: moving lights to either side of the mirror so they don't cast shadows, adding an outlet inside a drawer for hair tools, or recessing a medicine cabinet.

If the floor under the old vanity was never tiled, you'll need to match or replace it. That can turn a vanity swap into a floor project or a full remodel, and it's better to know before the old vanity comes out.

Questions we hear about this

Can you replace just the vanity?

Yes. The things to check are the floor and wall behind the old vanity (often unfinished or water-damaged), whether the new width covers the old footprint, and whether the plumbing sits where the new cabinet needs it. Floating vanities in particular need solid blocking in the wall.

What vanity material holds up best in a humid bathroom?

Plywood carcasses and solid-wood frames resist swelling far better than particleboard. Finish matters as much as the core: sealed edges, quality paint or lacquer, and hardware that won't corrode.
