FAQ
Bathroom remodeling questions, answered
The questions Miami homeowners and condo owners ask most before starting a bathroom project.
How do I start a bathroom remodel?
Request a consultation through the contact page or by phone. We visit, measure, discuss what you want and what your building allows, then send an itemised written quote.
How long does a bathroom remodel take in Miami?
It depends on scope and on material lead times, especially for custom vanities, imported tile and glass, which is measured only after tile is finished. Condo projects also need association approval before work begins. You get a written schedule with your quote.
Do I need a permit to remodel my bathroom?
Cosmetic work such as replacing a vanity in place may not, but work that changes plumbing, electrical or structure generally does. The permitting office depends on the property's location, for example the City of Miami, Miami Beach, Coral Gables or Miami-Dade County for unincorporated areas. We confirm requirements for your scope.
Can you remodel a bathroom in my condo?
Yes. Condo projects start with the association's renovation rules and approval, and are planned around elevator bookings, work hours and shared plumbing. See condo bathroom remodeling.
Why does waterproofing matter so much here?
Tile and grout are not waterproof, and in Miami's humidity, water that gets behind them doesn't dry out. A bonded membrane behind the tile, tested before tiling, is what keeps a shower from rotting the wall. More in our waterproofing guide.
Can I stay at home during the remodel?
Usually, yes, if there's another bathroom you can use. Expect noise and dust control measures during demolition and a room that's out of service for the duration.
Do you supply materials or can I buy my own?
Either. We can supply everything, or install tile, fixtures and vanities you've chosen. We check quantities and suitability before work starts.
Can a bathtub be replaced with a walk-in shower?
Very often, in the same footprint. See tub-to-shower conversion for what's involved.
Is porcelain or natural stone better for a Miami bathroom?
Porcelain is lower maintenance and far less absorbent; natural stone has unique character but needs sealing and gentle cleaning. Our comparison covers both.
How much does a bathroom remodel cost?
It depends mainly on layout changes, tile coverage, shower type, glass, vanity and building logistics. The cost page explains each factor, and we provide a written quote for your project.
