Powder rooms & compact baths
Small bathroom remodeling that makes every inch count
Most small bathrooms in Miami, from hall baths in Kendall houses to guest baths in Brickell condos, can't grow. They can work much better: more storage, a shower you can actually move in, and a room that feels wider than it measures.
- Powder rooms
- Hall and guest baths
- Compact condo baths
Moves that pay off in a small room
Space you gain
- Floating vanity with drawers instead of doors: the visible floor makes the room read larger, and drawers hold more
- Recessed niches between studs for shower bottles and a recessed medicine cabinet
- Pocket or barn-style door where a swinging door blocks the vanity
- Wall-hung toilet where the wall can hold a carrier
- Corner or narrow-depth vanity when every inch of clearance counts
Space you gain visually
- One tile carried from floor up the shower wall
- Large-format wall tile with minimal grout lines
- Fixed glass panel instead of a curtain or framed door
- A mirror that runs the width of the vanity
- Light, low-contrast colour with one warm accent

Small rooms, same humidity
A small bathroom has less air to absorb steam, so it gets wetter faster. That makes the fan and the shower waterproofing more important than in a big room, not less. Windowless interior bathrooms, common in condos and in many townhouses, depend entirely on mechanical exhaust.
Materials matter too: a vanity carcass in particleboard will swell in a room that stays damp. We specify plywood or other moisture-resistant construction and finishes that tolerate it.
Not every idea fits every small room. A curbless shower may not be possible on a condo slab. A wall-hung toilet needs wall depth. A pocket door needs a wall without plumbing or wiring in it. We'll tell you which of these your room supports before you fall for them.
Cost in a small bathroom
Smaller rooms use less material, but labour doesn't scale down evenly: demolition, plumbing, waterproofing and glass all have fixed parts. Tile-heavy designs and custom vanities cost proportionally more per square foot in a small space. The cost page explains what a quote covers.
Questions we hear about this
Do large tiles really make a small bathroom look bigger?
Generally, yes. Fewer grout lines make a surface read as one plane. The limit is the floor: a shower floor sloping to a centre drain needs smaller tiles, so large format works best on walls or with a linear drain.
Is a wall-hung toilet worth it in a small bathroom?
It frees floor space and makes cleaning easier, but it needs an in-wall carrier and a wall deep enough to hold it. In a condo, the drain location and the wall construction decide whether it's practical.
